Why, hello.

I’ve always had a keen interest in the still image from a young age, which developed into a love for moving pictures. After winning a Foyle Film Festival Award for my A-Level short film, I went on to study Film further at Queen’s University, Belfast. While studying there, I fell in love with analogue photography, and even more so into cinematography. At 19, I got my hands on my first SLR, and I’ve been collecting cameras in every format ever since.

In recent years, I’ve focused primarily on music photography, and my work has been featured in publications such as Chordblossom, Hot Press, Clash Magazine, Golden Plec and Buzz Music. I’ve also had the pleasure of working closely with Youth 19 and the Derry City Jazz Festival.

I like to take pride in each and every photograph I take, so I approach each shoot with the mindset it is making the front cover of a major publication. I don’t have a set “template” with fixed styles and poses, and I like to photograph what is natural to both myself and the subject whilst keeping each shot unique to my style and approach. So don't worry about looking "posed", as I'm pretty easy going in that department.

My ethos is that every artist and subject deserve original, high quality images that will make them stand out from the crowd, and excel in their field. I want them to be proud they chose to work with Y-Control Photography.

What's the craic? Say hello!
